We say this a lot…but dip nails really are EASY to do. Just remember a few golden rules to ensure your manicures and supplies are long lasting.
The Golden Rules
- Stay away from your cuticles! Do everything in your power to avoid applying the base and the top coat on your cuticles. Not only does this give you cleaner lines, but it makes your manicure last longer. Dip applied too close to cuticles almost inevitably leads to lifting of the manicure.
- Apply base and top coat about a hair’s breadth away from the cuticle.
- If you happen to get base or top coat on your cuticles, immediately clean it off with a toothpick.
- Don’t contaminate your bottles! Keep your liquids liquid and don’t mix! Your liquids can last you for hundreds of manicures…but only if you properly take care of them.
- Do NOT insert your base brush back into the bottle before wiping it clean on a paper towel. This keeps loose dip powder from getting in the base. Wipe in between each nail application.
- Do NOT wipe your brush on the side of the bottle. This will glue it shut.
- Do NOT apply top coat before making sure you’ve brushed all loose powder off of your nails. Again, you don’t want to get the powder in the liquid.
- Do NOT apply the top coat before you’ve given your activator at least 2 minutes to set. If you act too quickly, you risk contaminating your top coat with activator and turning it (or the brush) hard.
- DO wipe the top of your base and top coat with before closing. This will keep your bottle from getting glued shut.
- DO store your bottles upright and away from heat.
